Worship in Pink

Worship in Pink is an educational outreach program created by Susan G. Komen® Inland Empire to reach African American and Latina women throughout the Inland Empire through their faith-based organization. This effort aims to increase community knowledge of breast health, as well as encourage early detection among women in our local community. Faith-based organizations are asked to take time in their service to discuss the importance of breast health, the impact breast cancer has on families, local resources, and provide an opportunity to honor the women in our lives.

Since 2012, Susan G. Komen® has provided more than 17,000 women with breast health education and information about local resources through Worship in Pink at their faith-based organization across San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. For more information on hosting Worship in Pink, please contact us at info@komenie.org!

Worship in Pink aims to raise awareness of breast cancer among all members within your community by providing participating faith- based organizations with free educational materials and program incentives (available in English & Spanish – other languages vary). Participating faith-based organizations will receive:

  • Worship in Pink Speaking Points
  • Susan G. Komen® Breast Self-Awareness Shower Cards
  • Questions and Answers About Your Breast Health
  • Local Community Impact Information
  • Local Resources for Breast Health Services and Support
  • Templates (For Service Use, Parish Bulletins, Newsletter Inserts, Press Releases, and Social Media Posts)
  • Participant gifts

Susan G. Komen® Inland Empire seeks Worship in Pink Ambassadors who are passionate individuals that possess a willingness to learn and serve others in a supportive role. Ambassadors that coordinate the Worship in Pink health ministry activities may include your women’s minister, a survivor or a friend/family member that wishes to honor someone special.

An Ambassador can honor those who have been affected by breast cancer by dedicating a prayer to a loved one, organizing a moment of silence within their service, or asking participants to wear pink clothing or pink ribbons to show support of the importance of awareness and early detection.

Please join Susan G. Komen® Inland Empire by participating in Worship in Pink. If you feel you would be interested in helping by providing leadership to the members of you community contact us at info@komenie.org to learn more!

“I have an obligation of creating awareness and making a difference for all people that are neither as privileged nor as fortunate to have the knowledge and technology that we have in the U.S. As an immigrant, I think about my sisters who lack the knowledge of breast self-awareness and the importance of knowing your risk, getting screened, knowing what is normal for you and making healthy lifestyle choices. I hosted my first Angelic Worship Prayer Party in 2014. I had the opportunity to share my testimony, encourage women, celebrate lives and had my mentor; a 7-year breast cancer survivor, share her journey and victory over breast cancer. I am grateful for Prayer in Pink because knowledge is an empowerment to eradication and victory over this disease.”
